For successful self-regulated learning, students must monitor and accurately assess their own understanding. Digital learning environments offer new and promising opportunities to support self-regulated learning. In this subproject, we will investigate the extent to which visualizations of students’ self-assessments can assist them in self-regulated learning from digital texts using experimental field and laboratory studies. For this purpose, various types of visualizations will be developed and evaluated with regard to their effectiveness. The research focuses particularly on lower secondary school students, as they often experience difficulties with self-regulated learning from texts, and targeted support in this area appears especially beneficial.
